Kazakhstan Stock Exchange activity

In the last six months to July 18, the companies listed below have accounted for more than 90% of the dollar volume of trades on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange in Almaty.  This represents an increased concentration of the dollar volume of trades by the top ten most trade stocks on that Exchange for the year to January 31, 2014, the ten most traded stocks accounted for 78% of the dollar volume of trades on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange.  The average dollar volume of trade per issue for these companies ranged from about $880 to over $13,000, which is lower than for the January 31 report of this Exchange.  All of the companies whose shares are in the list below are in the KASE Index except for BTA Bank and the preferred shares of KazMunaiGas.  Eurasian Natural Resources Corp. (GB_ENRC) had been one of the heavily traded stocks in the previous reports and had been part of the KASE Index, but is no longer listed on the Exchange.

Recently, deals have totaled over $700,000 per day on this exchange, which is a similar volume to that reported this past January 31.

Kcell (KCEL) - mobile operator  
KazMunaiGas preferred shares (RDGZp) - oil and gas exploration and production
KAZAKHMYS (GB_KZMS) - mining and processing
Kazakhtelecom (KZTK) - telecommunications
KazMunaiGas common shares (RDGZ) - oil and gas exploration and production
Kazkommertsbank (KKGB) - banking
Bank Center Credit (CCBN) - banking
BTA Bank (BTAS) - banking

The most heavily traded stock was KazTransOil (KZTO), with over 39% of the trading volume in the last six months to July 18.  THis issue, with Kcell (KCEL), KazMunaiGas preferred shares (RDGZp), and Kazakhtelecom (KZTK) accounted for over 73% of the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange's trades in this period.
